Volunteer: Cat Herder
As Cat Herder, you play a fundamental role in the care and oversight of cats in the clinic
Responsibilities
• Pre-surgery, transport cat carriers and traps from intake to surgical area
• During surgery or prep, clean traps and carriers; line carriers and traps with newspaper; microwave heating sacks
• Post-surgery, apply styptic powder to eartips; apply corn syrup to lip; monitor cats on “the beach” – a heated mat upon which cats recover; transport cats from beach to carrier or trap; transport cat carriers or traps to clients, rescue partners
Requirements
Able to stand on your feet for more than 1 hour; to lift up to 20 pounds; to push and pull a cart laden with cat cages and traps
Expectation
1 day per week, 4-6 hours
